About Rigo Murillo
My name is Rigo Murillo, a professional violinist and a registered Suzuki® violin teacher. Violin students of all ages and levels in the Northeast Dallas area take lessons at our studio, located at the Suzuki Music Institute of Dallas. This web site is designed to help you know about our school, studio, and the philosophy of music and violin education I use.
The teaching philosophy and methods of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki are based in the idea that all children learn to speak their mother tongue by listening to the language-filled environment around them and by receiving the proper encouragement and nurturing to imitate what they hear.
For young children, The Suzuki approach to learning music is the most natural and simplest method, extending from ear training and going beyond the basics to the most intricate aspects of musical expression.
Regardless of the performance level, through the principles of the Suzuki Method, setting technical and musical goals for young violin students brings excitement and progress toward musical excellence.
Some of the most enjoyable things for me besides performing and conducting is sharing my life with Suzuki families, teaching, and developing Suzuki violin students. Every day, I take pleasure in learning how to transmit my knowledge to my students and to help their parents support their learning.
If you or your child would like to know more about taking violin lessons, please contact me for lesson availability and enrollment in the best teaching approach to music learning.
How Suzuki's influence has made me a better teacher:
An extensive variety of performing, conducting and teaching experiences have taught me greatly to help students achieve the highest standards of musical performance, acquiring a solid technical foundation of violin technique. A wealth of learning has come from the Suzuki experience, and I have had the privilege to have learned a great deal from other Suzuki teachers like Nicolette Solomon, Paul Landefeld, Pat D'Ercole, Michelle George, and Joanne Melvin. Each of them has brought different aspects and perspectives of Dr. Suzuki's teaching approach. Artistically,
Rigo Murillo,
Suzuki® Strings Specialist
